Wuthering Heights
A Novel which made me to stare at the wall…
The first and the best classic novel which I have read so far. It’s a masterpiece of literary genius and incredibly unpleasant to read. It gives the reader an unpleasant ending with a Victorian gothic feel. I never expected that it was the first and only novel of Emily Brontë. I swear that I will never forget a character called Heathcliff and his love towards Cathy. It takes the reader in an emotional roller coaster which doesn’t end well. I personally needed Heathcliff to succeed in his love but he didn’t. He doesn’t deserve this ending. This novel created an emotional connect with their love. I was reminded of Heathcliff and Cathy whenever I see moorlands. I was reminded of them who were playing happily in the moors. A perfect start, a great middle but it doesn’t have a happy ending as expected. I was staring at the wall when I read the ending of the novel. I became so silent that I can’t explain the feeling which I had for their relationship. This novel made me to stare at the blank space or white wall for no reason. The suffering which Heathcliff undergone made me speechless. He was literally humiliated and discriminated. But there was one soul who showered him with her pure love. She was his Cathy. She was the one who treated Heathcliff as a human being. But they don’t deserve it, they don’t deserve this ending. It made my heart to cry as loud as possible, even my brain stopped functioning after that scene. They don’t deserve such a tragic end to their love life. I was speechless and I slammed the door for no reason. I started to ask myself why and I was surrounded by many questions after the ending.
Keeping my heart to stay still as a stone …!!!
I would love to receive comments from your side. You can comment your favourite novels and authors.
And you can answer my question…
1.Whether HEATHCLIFF and CATHY deserve this ending or not?
2.Have you read the novel?
3.Comment your favourite line from the novel.
My favourite line from the novel is,
“Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same”
It was told by Cathy to the housekeeper Nelly.
